As we move into a brand new month, we’re rounding up all the things to look forward to in Dubai this July. Whether you’re a sports fan gearing up for two weeks of Wimbledon, booking a table at a new restaurant or brunch, or testing your knowledge at a Friends-themed quiz night, we hope you make July an awesome one.

Until July 6: Dine your way around d3 for less

From Sunday June 30 to Saturday June 6, Dubai Design District will hold its very first restaurant week. For those who aren’t familiar with the concept, a select number of restaurants will offer unbeatable deals on a special menu as a way to showcase never-tried-before dishes prepared by the in-house chefs. Prices will range from Dhs99 to Dhs150, depending on the restaurant, with the menu available all day during the restaurant week. Participating restaurants include Mediterranean eatery The Lighthouse, Japanese street food spot Akiba Dori, Molecule which has international cuisine, French restaurant Chez Charles, Italian diner Larte, Frame will be serving up Japanese food, One Life the wholesome restaurant and café, and Indian destination Mohalla.

July 1 to 14: Catch all the tennis action alongside some top deals

The Lion by Nick & Scott is Dubai’s take on a classic British pub, so it’s no surprise they’re going all out to celebrate Wimbledon. Each day they’ll have a barrel of a traditional summer cocktail, from which you can get five helpings for Dhs99. Their happy hour will be running Sunday to Thursday from 5pm to 8pm, serving drinks for Dhs30 and on Tuesdays between 7pm and 8pm, guys will get three complimentary house beverages while girls will get them unlimited. Until July 6: Enjoy discounted entry to a beautiful beach club

The sun-worshippers among us will know that braving the heat and humidity for a relaxing pool day is so worth it, especially if it’s at a great price. Until their season closing on July 6, from Sunday to Thursday, ladies can enjoy discounted entrance of only Dhs100 per person for the pool and beach access. July 12: Tuck into a Bastille Day brunch

Wednesdays throughout July: Test your ‘Friends’ knowledge at a themed quiz night

‘Friends’ fans, it’s time to put all those hours of binge-watching to the test as alpine-inspired Publique in Madinat Jumeirah is turning to iconic 90s sitcom ‘Friends’ for its new themed quiz nights. Taking place every Wednesday throughout July, the weekly quiz night will run from 8pm to 10pm, and put die-hard fans through their paces with a series of themed questions and games as they make their way through the quiz, round by round.

July 18: Be first to see the live-action remake of The Lion King

We here at What’s On can’t wait for this one to come out – and we’re sure we aren’t the only ones. The ‘live action’ version of The Lion King is one of the most anticipated Disney remakes of all time, and it lands in cinemas on July 18 across the UAE. For those of you who haven’t seen the 1994 Disney animated film – the story follows young lion cub, Simba who is next in line for the throne after his father, Mufasa. After the murder of Mufasa by Simba’s jealous and throne hungry Uncle Scar the young lion prince flees his kingdom, only to learn the true meaning of responsibility and bravery.

July date TBC: Dine at a funky new Mexican restaurant

The hospitality group behind The Scene by Simon Rimmer and Mr Miyagi’s are branching out into Mexican cuisine with the launch of El Chapo’s Tacos. Hailing from the streets of Mexico, El Chapo’s Tacos promises to bring authentic Mexican flavours, sounds and experiences to the sandy suburbs of Dubai. It will open alongside a second serving of Mr Miyagi’s in the recently opened Studio One hotel.

July 18 and 20: Party hard with a rap star

Willie Maxwell II, better known as Fetty Wap will be performing on Thursday July 18 and Saturday July 20 at Al Habtoor City superclub, BOA as part of their epic summer line-up. Best known for his debut single Trap Queen Fetty is no stranger to Dubai, having played here multiple times last year. Entrance is free, and ladies can also take advantage of some brilliant ladies’ night deals at the luxe club. Two more mystery acts will also soon be announced.

July 19: Check out a brand new party brunch

Love Parties are launching a new brunch at Lah Lah, the pan-Asian eatery at Zabeel House The Greens. The party brunch called F.L.O (for love of) brunch, promises a throwback, classic R&B sound track a three-course a la carte menu served up alongside free-flowing house drinks. Kicking off at the slightly later (and more civilised) time of 2pm, the three-hour party brunch will launch on Friday July 19. Soft drinks will be priced at Dhs299, the house package is Dhs375 and bubbles is Dhs450. In signature Love Parties style, guests can expect a brilliant after party post-brunch, with a drinks deal offering 5 drinks for Dhs150 from 5pm onwards.

July 25: See a famous funnyman live in Dubai

Award-winning English comedian, Jason Manford, is back in the UAE this summer as part of his ‘Muddle Class Tour’ courtesy of The Laughter Factory. The comedian will be performing live in Dubai at Movenpick Hotel Jumeirah Beach Road on July 25, 2019. It will be his first time performing in Dubai since his performance New Year’s Eve 2017-2018.
