Dubai summer heat getting to you? Here’s one place that’s guaranteed to cool you down… 

You wouldn’t believe us if we told you there is a place in Dubai that’s set to a permanent negative six degrees, and no… we aren’t talking about your freezers.

Sound like a dream? Then you need to get yourself to Chillout Ice Lounge. Located at Time Square Center, Chillout Ice Lounge is a cool spot that’s sure to give you a break from Dubai’s summer heat, where the temperature is four degrees colder than that at at Ski Dubai!

Not sure you’ve got the right attire? Not to worry, Chillout Lounge will provide you with thermal wear, including woolen glooves, a heavy jacket and a cosy hat complete with woolen ear flaps. If your wearing an open pair of shoes, you will be handed thick shoes to save your toes from turning blue.

Once you’re protected from the cold, you will be asked to spend a few minutes in the ‘buffer zone’. The temperature here is only 5 degrees, to give your body chance to adjust to the sudden drop in temperature.

You won’t realize just how cold the Chillout Ice Lounge is at first as you will be too busy being amazed by the stunning ice sculptures all around you.

Some of the ice sculptures include Burj Al Arab, Burj Khalifa, a falcon, dragon, angel wings and even a camel. There’s also a miniature car you can sit on for a perfect ‘gram picture.

You don’t have to worry about getting yourself wet from the ice, as the seats are covered with fur.

There are even engravings done on ice blocks that include the Year of Tolerance logo, a portrait of HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Vice President of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, and more.

Once you’ve spent time getting your snaps, head on over to your table (yes, it’s also made out of ice), where you can warm up with a nice hot chocolate served up in a metal cup.

The lounge also serves hot soups, sandwiches, coffees, teas and even tasty deserts and mocktails.

Be sure to try the nitrogen popcorn, which is basically colorful popcorn infused with nitrogen that will make you exhale smoke like a dragon. Fun!

Chillout Ice Lounge is Dhs80 for adults, and Dhs40 for children inclusive of a hot chocolate, but adult rates for groups bigger than four start from Dhs65.
