This week is a bumper one for new releases, with no less than seven films worth checking out.


I FRANKENSTEIN
Director Stuart Beattie (Pirates of the Caribbean) returns with this spectacular 4D take on the classic tale of a man made beast. I, Frankenstein, stars Aaron Eckhart and Bill Nighy and has the lead character caught in an all-out, centuries old war between two immortal clans.

HOW I LIVE NOW
Saoirse Ronan continues to develop into one of Hollywood’s most well-rounded young actresses in this story of an American girl’s whirlwind romance in the English countryside. Set in the near future, a war rages on the continent and the story follows the relationship as the UK falls into a military state.

THE LEGEND OF HERCULES
Kellan Lutz stars as the mythical Greek God blessed with superhero strength who must find his way back to his rightful kingdom following a betrayal by his stepfather. Expect epic battles and gladiator-style showdowns as our hero fights his way home.

RIDE ALONG
Comedy capers and buddy movie bromance in this story of security guard Ben, played by Kevin Hart, who bids to win the approval of James (Ice Cube), his would-be brother-in-law. Ben joins James on a 24-hour patrol of Atlanta hopeful of proving himself worthy of marrying Angela, James’ sister.

THE NUMBERS STATION
John Cusack chums up with Malin Akerman in a thrilling fight to stop a deadly plot against America before it is too late. Cusack plays a special agent who is sent away in disgrace to a remote CIA broadcast station to do little more than protect a code operator. However, things aren’t quite as a straightforward as he hoped.

DEVIL’S DUE
Don’t like things that go bump in the night? Then stay away from this jumpy horror, which already has a huge buzz around it following a successful viral ad campaign. Starring Allison Miller and Zach Gilford as a pregnant couple who struggle with changes experienced by the mother. Is it health? No, it seems these issues are much more sinister.

THE NUT JOB
One for the kids. Liam Neeson, Brendan Fraser and Will Arnett are among the voices in this comedy tale of a squirrel who leads his fellow nut-hunters on a mission to raid a food store. However, fate would have it that a human set of bank robbers also have big plans for the night of the raid.
