Abu Dhabi motorists are now eligible for a 25-per cent discount on traffic fines
It is applicable for parking and traffic violation fines committed within the emirate…
Have an outstanding parking ticket that’s burning a hole in your pocket?
Well, there’s some good news as Abu Dhabi Police have announced that motorists in the capital can now apply for a 25-per cent discount on certain traffic fines.
According to a report from Gulf News, the Traffic Court of Abu Dhabi said that traffic and parking violation fines can be subject to this discount when referred to them.
The discount is only applicable for violations committed in the emirate of Abu Dhabi, including Al Ain and Al Dhafra.
Great, so how can I take advantage of the discount?
Firstly, you’ll need to visit the customer happiness centre at the Abu Dhabi Police Headquarters on Sheikh Zayed Road (Tel: 02 446 1461) in person and go to the fines department. Make sure to bring along your Emirates ID, driving licence and car registration.
You’ll then be given a printout, which you’ll need to fill out in order to transfer your fine(s) to the traffic court.
The following day, head to the Abu Dhabi Traffic and Patrols Directorate in Al Muroor to confirm that your application has been accepted. If it has, you then need to visit the traffic court in the same building along with your documents for the discount to be applied.
Once all the paperwork is completed (and the now discounted fine is paid), you can then submit the receipt to the traffic police who will clear the fine from your record.
The process is definitely a bit involved, but a 25-per cent discount on your traffic fines is certainly nothing to sniff at.
