The Bear Grylls Explorer Camp now has nine pet-friendly cabins…

Picture this: a weekend out in the wild with a group of your closest friends or family and your four-legged pal, exploring the mountainous area surrounding you. There’s wild goats, barbecue facilities and comfortable bunk beds that sleep up to three.

That’s what you’ll find at Bear Grylls Explorer Camp’s new lodging experience. What started as a place to learn exciting survival techniques in four to 24 hour courses, now has an overnight camping option to enjoy, launching on March 3, 2021.

The pet-friendly camp in Ras Al Khaimah has a cosy feel, with all containers facing inward. The cabins surround an open campfire area where you can socialise in the evening, roasting marshmallows and telling stories. Dogs are welcome (up to two per cabin) at an additional charge of Dhs50.

Each lodge comes equipped with the basics, including a cool-box filled with a selection of food, from meat to prawns, corn on the cob and more, ready to light up on the barbecue; as well as options for breakfast in the morning.

Rather than a glamping experience, campers are encouraged to be self-sufficient, but provided with basic necessities. Plates, bowls, cutlery, mugs, barbecue tools and toilet paper are available, with an on-site shop which can provide further amenities.

The Bear Grylls Explorer Camp cabins also have private bathrooms with a shower, but guests will need to bring their own soap and towels. There’s also a fridge and kettle in the room, just remember to bring your own tea and coffee.

You’ll find the camp at Jebel Jais, located around one hour and 30 minute drive from Dubai. If you’re not keen to try one of the survival courses, there’s also fat tyre ebikes to ride around the mountain, as well as nearby hiking trails to explore.

Each cabin is priced at Dhs450 per night between Sunday and Wednesday, and Dhs650 from Thursday to Saturday. You can book your cabin at beargryllscamp.ae.
