Have you noticed that your phone says 'Tolerance'? Here's why...
The change appeared on phones over the past week…
Phone users in Dubai may have noticed the change on their phones last week. The word ‘Tolerance‘ now sits prominently on top of all phones where the network provider ‘Etisalat’ or ‘du’ usually appears.
Why?
Earlier in February, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai unveiled the Year of Tolerance logo. The logo was inspired by the UAE’s national tree, the Ghaf.
In acknowledgement with the logo reveal, network providers showed their support by adding the word ‘Tolerance’.

The year 2019 was declared as the ‘Year of Tolerance‘ by His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, president of the UAE, in continuation of the Year of Zayed.
The small yet effective gesture is a great way to support the initiatives and it serves as a reminder to the millions of people that call this country home of the Year of Tolerance.
In keeping with the Year of Tolerance, the UAE has already witnessed historic events taking place, the biggest thus far being the Pope’s landmark visit to the Arabian Peninsula, and a decision to build the UAE’s first Hindu temple.
There’s still more to come too. Upcoming event include Special Olympics World Games taking place which will see 7,500 athletes with determination take part in Olympic sports.
We can’t wait to see what is coming next!
