Scottish rockers Texas will perform in Dubai in the New Year.

Radio-friendly, sing-a-long hits like Say What You Want and In a Lifetime helped Texas dominate the airwaves in the UK in the late ‘90s and early noughties, but the once ubiquitous band had all but vanished in recent years.

For a while it seemed frontwoman Sharleen Spiteri had given up on music to devote herself to family life and hanging out with the Primrose Hill set – she counts Kate Moss and Gwyneth Paltrow among her mates.

In a recent interview with the Daily Express in the UK, she revealled: “My biggest regret is not having four or five children. I might have another one but I’m 46 this year so four or five are not going to happen. My greatest weakness is my daughter. She’s the one person that can get round me, though I can be really strict because I care so much. Giving birth to her was the best day of my life. I just remember thinking, ‘Why has she not got a big mop of black hair? Why is my child platinum blonde?’ She’s still as blonde as anything.”

And now Texas have been back in the recording studio and 2013 saw the release of The Conversation, their first album in eight years allowing Sharleen and co to bring their new material, along with their biggest hits from their heyday, to The Irish Village on January 23.

3. In Our Lifetime – yet another single to break into the top five in the UK, In Our Lifetime also featured on the official soundtrack for hit movie Notting Hill.
