One of the biggest groups of the British pop boom in the 1990s, Boyzone, will perform in Dubai in May.

The Irish boyband will take to the Dubai Tennis Stadium, Garhoud, on May 22, the day before Justin Timberlake rocks the du Arena, Abu Dhabi.

In their heyday, Ronan Keating, Mikey Graham, Keith Duffy, Shane Lynch and Stephen Gately were among the most recognizable faces in music, rolling it hit after hit from their breakthrough cover version of the classic Osmonds’ hit, ‘Love Me for a Reason’ in 1995, to the likes of ‘Isn’t It a Wonder’, ‘Picture of You’, and ‘Baby Can I Hold You’, ‘No Matter What’, ‘When The Going Gets Tough’ and ‘When You Say Nothing At All’. Their 1996 album ‘A Different Beat’ sold more than two million copies,

Seemingly at the peak at the turn of the century, the group split to pursue solo careers, with front Keating enjoying by far the most successful stint on his own. Duffy, meanwhile, took a different turn on the small screen, landing a part in British soap opera Coronation Street.

They reformed in 2008 and were so well received that they toured both that year and the next having sold 200,000 tickets within three hours for their comeback announcement. However, tragedy struck the group in 2009 when Gately was found dead in an apartment in the Spanish holiday island of Majorca as a result of an undiagnosed heart condition.

The four remaining members of Boyzone toured again in 2013, to celebrate 20 years since the inception of the band, and now a year later are bringing the show to Dubai.
