Legendary rocker Bob Geldof returns to Irish Village on March 13 for yet another special St Patrick’s Day show.

The Boomtown Rats star – who has garnered 11 top 40 singles from 1977 to 82 in the UK, five top 10s and two UK No. 1s with the band – will entertain crowds as he has done year on year in Garhoud.

It seems the Irish legend is in tiptop form ahead of the concert, too. His reunion gig with the Boomtown Rats in October last year in Glasgow received critical acclaim from The Guardian newspaper: “Geldof’s a dancing, prancing, restless mess of a frontman, all manic gum-chewing, grey scarecrow hair and goofy limbs. Fantastic”.

Speaking ahead of his appearance, Geldof said: “This will be my ninth visit. Having the gig on Friday the 13 doesn’t phase me in the slightest. Last year, although the rain was ‘persistent’, we still managed to jam into the early hours courtesy of a makeshift stage and plenty of Irish spirit. So whatever the weather, this year is going to be a great craic as well.”

“I’ve been going to Dubai for St Patrick’s Day for many years,” said Bob. “I’m always excited about performing at The Irish Village. It’s the perfect venue.”
