A new music festival on the beach will be headlined by Mark Ronson when it launches on Friday April 24.
The day-to-night DXBeach will be held at Zero Gravity and is being put together by the team who had helped make Sandance the region’s most attended seafront festival. And they’ve made quite the splash with their opening acts.
The in-demand Ronson, whose ‘Uptown Funk’ has become the anthem of 2015 so far, leads the way, while Jess Glynne, Danny Howard and John Dahlback provide more than adequate support. More DJs are expected to be announced shortly.
With a capacity of 5,000 people, the event, which runs for 15 hours from midday, promises to be one the biggest of the year in the region.
According to information released by organisers, the party starts with a series of local talent providing a soundtrack to an afternoon on ‘sun-lounging, water sports and high-energy entertainment’.
After the international DJs, the current UK number one Glynne will take to the stage. The ‘Hold My Hand’ songstress is well on the way to carving out her own place in the music industry having been best known for her stunning soulful vocals on Clean Bandit’s smash hits ‘Rather Be’ and ‘Real Love’.
And then it’s onto the headliner. Ronson, who performed with Zane Lowe at the 2014 edition of RedFestDXB, is the most sought-after producer on the planet following the incredible success of his Bruno Mars partnership. The Brit can also count Paul McCartner, Adel and the late Amy Winehouse among his collaborators.
Howard, meanwhile, is one of the biggest names in British radio, with 1.8 million people regularly tuning in to his Dance Anthems show on BBC Radio 1. He also has a column in DJ Mag, a podcast and a slot on America’s SiriusXM.
Tickets for the first DXBeach go on sale on Thursday April 2 from dxbeach.ae and ticketmaster.ae. priced at Dhs250 (Dhs200 early bird) or Dhs500 for VIP. There will be brunch packages available as well as general admission.
