The Concert that Never Happened in the capital
What’s On has news of The Concert That Never Happened in Abu Dhabi, with Madonna, Tina Turner, Lionel Richie, Cher and R Kelly tribute acts.
Remember when R. Kelly opened up for Madonna? Nope, we don’t either.
Just because it hasn’t occurred, however, hasn’t stopped the show from taking place. A new tribute act aims to go against reality and will see five very diverse acts perform in one, all-inclusive gig.
The aptly named Concert That Never Happened will see artists fronting as Madonna, Tina Turner, Lionel Richie, Cher and R Kelly all on one stage in March.
Hosted at the Falcon Terrace in the Abu Dhabi Golf Club, the three-hour show is expected to feature a few classics such as ‘Into The Groove’ by pop icon Madonna and ‘Believe’ by Cher. For fans of more R&B music there’s R. Kelly, who rose to fame with songs like ‘Ignition’ and ‘The World’s Greatest’. For those looking for more soul then Lionel Richie’s ‘Dancing On The Ceiling’ or Tina Turner’s ‘Simply The Best’ will be the ticket.
“The Concert That Never Happened will be a great opportunity for those of all ages who enjoy great music to come together and have a wonderful evening,” said Paul Booth, Director of Club Operations at Abu Dhabi Golf Club. “The acts we have lined up are five tributes to five of the most famous artists of the past three decades. There is something for everyone in the line up and I am sure it will be well supported by our guests.”
Tribute bands and acts in the capital are having a bit of a moment these days. Coldplace, a tribute act for popular rock band Coldplay will host a concert at Abu Dhabi City Golf Club on March 26. While wannabe The Killers, The Fillers, played a show in February.
