What’s On has details of a new street dance show coming to Dubai, which will feature music from Michael Jackson, Rihanna, Madonna and more.

If your idea of a good movie is one that builds up to a big dance number, then a new theatre production blazing into Dubai this summer is sure to be right up your street.

BLAZE The Show is an explosive production featuring some of the best street dance and break dance performers in the world, and it’s set to be the main event at this year’s Dubai Summer Surprises (DSS).

Described as a mix of “nightclub vibes and West End production values”, this interactive show will be performed twice a day from August 20 to 22 at Centrepoint Theatre in DUCTAC, Mall Of The Emirates.

However, BLAZE is so much more than just a dance show – it’s a production comprised of some serious talent. First, there’s director Anthony Van Laast, the genius behind Mama Mia!, Sister Act and Batman Live. Then there’s set designer Es Devlin, who has created dramatic stages for acts including Kanye West, Take That and Lady Gaga.

Add to that choreography royalty, with the likes of Chris Baldock, Lyle Beniga, Mike Song, Kenny Wormald and Kendra Horsburgh, and dancers who’ve performed with Michael Jackson, Madonna and Rihanna (to name a few) and you’ve got yourself one of the most exciting productions to ever visit the UAE. It’s no wonder the Financial Times described it as the most “blissfully energetic, sassy” street dance show.

James Craven, Managing Director of Live Nation Middle East, is excited to see how the team will wow local audiences. “We are hoping this also becomes an opportunity to inspire our local choreographers, dance instructors and students,” he said.

In fact, if you fancy a chance to learn from the best, get moving.  As part of the event, the BLAZE team will choose 10 dancers to take part in an exclusive BLAZE masterclass on August 17. To be in with a chance of being selected, all you have to is submit a 15-second dance video on Facebook or Instagram, using the hashtag #BLAZEDXB between July 17 and August 7. The winners will be announced on August 10.

The international hit show premiered in London, and has travelled over the world, with tours stops including Berlin, Bangkok, Paris, Russia and Australia.
