6. DIN TAI FUNG
Hailing from Taiwan, Din Tai Fung is a restaurant chain with some serious street cred. Their versions of Chinese snack food – dumplings, noodles, steamed buns, and simple vegetable dishes are flawless, as is their highly-trained service. A basket of DTF’s mouthwatering xiaolongbao is a must.
7. ALISON NELSON’S CHOCOLATE BAR
This trendy coffee shop is beloved by chocolate aficionados with outlets in Qatar, New York and Dubai.

8. LULULEMON
Calling all yoga bunnies: Yoga emporium Lululemon Athletica has opened in the new wing of Mall Of The Emirates. The Canadian export excels at what once seemed an anomaly: work-out clothes that are comfortable and functional, yet chic. As if we needed more of an excuse to wear stretchy trousers anyway. lululemon.com
9. ADIDAS
There are plenty of adidas stores across the UAE – but this will be the first to be officially opened by David Beckham. That certainly gives it some street cred.
10. SEAFOLLY
This Australian swimwear brand is an absolute classic (if there’s one thing Antipodeans do well, it’s beach time, and so they take the art of togs seriously). Shop here and you’ll find on-trend shapes, lots of lovely patterns and plenty of great one-pieces. Yes, the stuff’s a bit pricey, but we’ve owned a pair of Seafolly swimmers that have lasted for nearly a decade: staying power. seafolly.com
11. ALL SAINTS
This British high street fashion brand is a winner – it’s a bit expensive, but often worth it (think Reiss price points). In its first Middle East store – which is huge, by the way – you’ll see lots of leather jackets and jersey dresses and dashes of East London cool. allsaints.com
