Five best girly breakfasts in Dubai
Morning after the night before? We feel you. Here are five of the best spots for a girls’ breakfast in Dubai.
TASHAS
More…
– 5 best boat parties
How do we love thee (Tasha)? Let us count the ways. We love thee to the depth and breadth and height of our latte macchiatos. Purely, as the green of the avocado on the side of our Mariachi eggs… You get the picture. We could wax lyrical about the breakfast menu at Tashas all day long. It isn’t just the tasty food that has us hooked, the restaurant looks great (digging the gold cutlery), the service is spot on and the location is perfect for a post brekkie browse of Galleria Mall. The only downside is that lots of other people have cottoned on to it too, so you might have to wait for a table.
Galleria Mall, Al Wasl Road, daily 7.30am to 11pm. Tel: (04) 38555000. Taxi: Galleria Mall.
LA SERRE
This one is less post-Bikram catch up, more blow-dries and chic day dresses. The extra effort will be well worth it when you arrive to the heavenly scent of breads and pastries freshly baked on site at one of the prettiest restaurants in town. La Serre’s small breakfast menu features all the crucial classics, but with a special touch – here, you’ll find a hint of truffle in your scrambled eggs. Un petit dejeuner, parfait.
Vida Downtown Hotel, Mohammed bin Rashid Boulevard, Downtown Dubai, daily noon to 3pm and 7.30pm to 11pm. Tel: (04) 4286969. Taxi: Vida Downtown Hotel.
THE SURF CAFE
If you rolled out of bed with zero intention of doing anything beyond eating copious amounts of food with your friends, then swap La Serre for the super laidback Surf Café on Jumeirah Beach Road. The café’s customer base (i.e. surfers) isn’t known for operating at a frenetic pace, so you can linger as long as you like over your Illy coffee, fresh fruit smoothie or acai bowl. And don’t worry, it’s not all virtuous, the full works is available too.
Jumeirah Beach Road, Umm Suqeim 2, daily 8am to midnight. Tel: (04) 3466292. Taxi: Emerat petrol station.
LIME TREE CAFE
An oldie but a goodie, there’s a reason customers are still as devoted as ever to Dubai’s original cafe in spite of the influx of newbies on the scene. And that reason, we think, is the sweet potato hash browns. That or the homemade baked beans. Or maybe the free-range, organic egg omelettes…
Jumeirah Beach Road, Dubai, daily 7.30am to 6.30pm. Tel: (04) 3256325. Taxi: Jumeirah Mosque. thelimetreecafe.com
THE SUM OF US
A sister restaurant to Tom & Serg, at The Sum of Us you can sit outside on the small terrace, rather than shouting to make yourselves heard over the hordes of hipsters that crowd into the cavernous Al Quoz original every weekend. You can also pick up fresh flowers from Bliss to take home after you’ve eaten your fill of salted caramel French toast.
Burj Al Salam Tower, World Trade Centre, Dubai, daily 8am to 10pm. Tel: (05) 64457526.
