Pacquiao and Tyson in Dubai for boxing match talks
The Pacman has landed, and is in Dubai to shoot hoops on November 7 with his Filipino basketball team the Mahindra Enforcers: a team he owns, plays for and coaches.
However Manny Pacquiao’s not just here to bag baskets, it seems he’s also trying to bag himself a match with British boxer and former two-time world welterweight champion Amir Khan next April.

36-year old Manny lost his most recent fight against America’s Floyd Mayweather in May by unanimous decision, injuring his shoulder in the process and thus putting him out of action until March next year.
As he arrived at the airport here, Manny told Sport360 he’d be keen to stage his next fight in Dubai. “I’d love to have a fight here in Dubai but I don’t know yet. We are working on that. I have no preference, it can be anybody – it depends on the negotiation. There is Amir Khan, a rematch with Floyd Mayweather, Danny Garcia or Terence Crawford.”
Also in Dubai and taking a break from his hit TV cartoon Mike Tyson Mysteries is, you guessed it, Mike Tyson himself. He is reportedly here to help in negotiations for Manny’s fight in Dubai next year, which is slated to be his last.
Whilst in India this week with his wife, Amir Khan told The Hindu: “Talks are going really well. They (Pacquiao’s team) are speaking to my team, so I’ve just left it to my team. But we’re still waiting for a response on what’s going to happen”.
Always the people-pleaser, Pacquiao will be making appearances at both the du Store at Dubai Mall on Wednesday 4 from 4pm, and at Go Sport at Mall of the Emirates after 6pm on Thursday 5.
Pacquiao seems more than happy to be here though, saying to Sport360 upon arrival: “This is my first time in Dubai and I feel so happy to be here. Thank you for the warm welcome, especially to the Filipino people in Dubai”.
Well, Manny, we hope you’ve got time after your game to get chillin’ out maxin’ relaxin’ all cool, shootin’ some b-ball down by the pool.
For those looking to catch the game, it’s going to be played on November 6 down at the Al Wasl Sports Club.
