Would you be brave enough to take on Jetman in a head-to-head air and road race?

British racing driver and former formula 1 star Martin Brundle decided to give it a shot.

In a video uploaded today, Brundle jumps behind the wheel of a 2016 Jaguar XJR, hitting full throttle across two kilometres in the blustery Dubai desert. Miles above him, meanwhile, daredevil Yves Rossy – also known as Jetman – soars across the skies in a race to the finish line.

“I have four engines pushing me in the air reaching 300 kilometres,” says Rossy. Not to be outdone, Brundle’s transport of choice is a supercharged aluminium V8 boasting “more than 500 horse power”.

This stunt comes within one month of a video showing Jetman and his protégé Vince Reffet flying around Dubai’s coastline, getting up close and personal with a colossal Emirates Airbus A380.
