Great Scott! Christopher Lloyd to appear at Middle East Film and Comic Con
Back To The Future’s mad scientist Christopher Lloyd is the big name this year at Middle East Film and Comic Con.
The year 2015 may not have brought us everything that Back to the Future II promised us – the current incarnation of hover boards is nothing like the cool pink number that Marty McFly was sporting – but 2016 is bringing us something even better: Christopher Lloyd. The American actor is best known for his role as Doc Brown, the original ‘mad scientist’ who turned his Delorean into a time machine and sent Marty (Michael J Fox) back in time on more than one occasion.
Lloyd will be appearing as one of the celebrity guests at Middle East Film and Comic Con 2016. Taking place from April 7 to 9, MEFCC is an annual celebration of all things pop culture, from films and TV to comic books and manga art. This year marks the Con’s fifth birthday, and it’s sure to be bigger and better than ever.
As well as the Back to the Future trilogy, Lloyd also starred in the Adams Family franchise, playing the rather unappealing (but with a heart of gold) Uncle Fester. Virtually unrecognisable with a bald head and pasty complexion, he was the perfect foil to the late Raul Julia’s impossibly smooth Gomez Adams.
The Back to the Future actor will be in good company. Other guests include the likes of veteran actress Veronica Taylor, the voice actor behind Pokémon’s main character Ash Ketchum, and April O’Neil in the iconic Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles series. Fabian Nicieza, who comic fans will know as the co-creator of Deadpool, will also be in attendance signing autographs. There will also be the chance to connect with legendary creator Stan Lee in a live video question-and-answer feed. The Marvel genius and creator of characters such as Spider-Man, the X-Men, Hulk, and Iron Man will host an exclusive session with fans during the convention.
If you’ve never been to Comic Con before, it’s a once in a lifetime opportunity to get close to your favourite stars, who take part in signings and pose for photos (one What’s On team member still has her photo with Flash Gordon from last year’s Comic Con proudly on display).
