Watch the Abu Dhabi Tour
This four-day 555km race will see some of the biggest names in professional cycling – Mark Cavendish, Alberto Contador and Elia Viviani – compete for glory right here in the capital. You can check out the pros in a handful of locations including Liwa, Saadiyat Island, Al Ain and Yas Marina Circuit.

Go to pink paddle
The annual pink paddle is back at Eastern Mangroves Hotel and Spa by Anantara and sees guests will be able to take a guided tour of the mangroves behind the hotel (while wearing pink, of course) on a kayak. Best of all, Dhs100 from each participant will be donated to Bosom Buddies, an Abu Dhabi-based cancer support group founded in 2002.

Watch a cricket match
The annual cricket match, the Abu Dhabi Ashes, takes place today. With two expat teams representing England and Australia, see who’ll win the title and glory this year. Dance to ’90s hits at Zayed Sports City
The Sunset Festival takes place at Zayed Sports City, and line-up includes British singer/songwriter Gabrielle (famous for her eye-patch and her hit single Dreams). Atlanta hip hop stars Arrested Development (their biggest hit People Everyday got to No2 in the UK charts) and German dance band Snap! (their top tracks include The Power and Rhythm Is A Dancer). South African group Freshlyground and UAE-based multi-instrumentalist Adam Baluch are also on the bill.

Look at some cool art
Abu Dhabi art exhibition No White Walls returns to the Fairmont Bab Al Bahr and will be on display throughout the hotel. Expect approximately 50 diverse works from Julia Ibbini, Emily Gordon, Karine Roche and Yiannis Roussakis on display, including paintings, sculpture and photography.

Check out a Dragon boat race
