Enrique Iglesias to headline Dubai Jazz Fest next year
The prince of Spanish-speaking pop is coming to Dubai. Bailamos!
The Emirates Airline Dubai Jazz Festival is always a great weekend out, and they’ve just announced their first headliner: Latin legend Enrique Iglesias will take to the Media City stage on the third night of the festival.
Running over three nights from Wednesday February 22 to Friday February 24, tickets for the festival (which is now in its 15th year) will go on sale from 12pm today, Tuesday November 29.
So what can I expect from the Enrique set?
Enrique Iglesias (yes, son of Julio) is well known for his English-language songs, but it’s his Spanish crooning that has really cemented his place in the music cannon.
He has sold more than 130 million albums worldwide, released 10 studio albums and is a multi-platinum artist in almost every country around the world.
His mega hit Bailando (which means dancing) spent 42 weeks at #1 on Billboard’s Hot Latin Songs chart (a world record) – and the music video has been viewed 1.7 billion times on YouTube (wow).
In fact, Enrique has won 226 awards in his 20 year career – where oh where does he keep them all?
Don’t worry, we’ll keep you updated on who the other acts on the night Enrique is playing are, as well as who the headliners for the other nights will be.
To give you an idea of what to expect, previous years have seen artists including Santana, Sting, John Legend, The Script, Deep Purple, Jason Mraz, Jamie Cullum, James Morrison and James Blunt play to the crowds in the grassy arena.
Enrique clearly loves the UAE – he performed at the after-race concert for the F1 last year, and also ran through his early hits at a concert at Dubai World Trade Centre in 2012.
We’re sure plenty of the crowd will be liable to get misty eyed during this tune:
Media City Ampitheatre, Dhs395 for regular tickets (Dhs335 early bird), Dhs795 golden circle (Dhs675 early bird), Dhs995 fan pit, Dhs1,595 VIP deck. Buy tickets here from 12pm today. For more info see website.
