It’s the result of weeks worth of gathering photos from thousands of UAE residents and tourists

A picture is worth a thousand words. But how many pictures are worth a Guinness World Record? 10,850, it turns out.

That’s the number of photographs that made up a record attempt yesterday in the Dubai for the longest line of photographs ever gathered.

Measuring more than 1.5km, the record-breaking line of photos is currently on display at the Dubai Festival City atrium, and was the culmination of two weeks worth of gathering photos from thousands of residents and tourists who visited Carrefour’s Mall of the Emirates and Festival City branches.

The campaign, called ‘Great Moments Together’, was a joint venture between Procter & Gamble and Majid Al Futtaim (who operate Carrefour within the UAE), and called upon visitors to the stores to share photos of their happiest moments which they could create using an onsite photo booth.

Guinness World Record officials were on hand to verify the record attempt, confirming that the 1655.192m line of photos was indeed record-worthy.

In an official statement, Talal Omar, Guinness World Records Country Manager, MENA, said: “Families and children have always been at the heart of Guinness World Records and we take great pride to be a part of this unique and memorable experience that showcases moments of happiness shared by families and loved ones.”

The collection of will be available for public viewing, albeit not arranged in a straight line, until 16 August.
