This major UAE bank is halting many of its major services for three days
Including mobile and online banking…
Customers of Abu Dhabi Commercial Bank (ADCB) have received a notice via email that a number of the institution’s major banking services will be unavailable from Saturday, 30 September to Tuesday, 3 October.
Branches will remain open but unable to process many key functions including transferring of funds, and depositing and withdrawing cash or cheques. Both online and mobile banking will also be offline during this period.
The timing of this is pretty sticky as it corresponds with many people in Dubai receiving their monthly paycheques.
The good news, however, is that customers will still be able to use their ADCB Credit and Debit cards, both in stores and at ATMs, however cash withdrawals made using an ADCB credit card will only be possible at ATMs from other, non-ADCB banks (which will likely incur fees). SMS notifications following transactions will also not be sent.
ADCB cites a “system enhancement” as the reason for the major downtime which will begin at 4pm on 30 September and last until 8am on 3 October.
Hopefully, this equates to a couple of days of inconvenience for a much improved customer experience in the long run. We have reached out ADCB for a comment, and will update with more details as we get them.
In the meantime, you can visit the ADCB website for a full list of the services that will become unavailable.
