The news follows similar moves from the other emirates in the UAE, and coincides with the country’s National Day celebrations

If you’ve got existing traffic fines on your record that you haven’t paid off yet, then we have good news for you.

Abu Dhabi Police tonight announced on Twitter that if you pay your fines from today December 1, you’ll get 50 per cent off. What’s more, the discount period was originally set to last for 60 days, but it’s now been extended to 90 days.

It’s no coincidence the discount period starts today, during National Day weekend. Most of the emirates in the country are offering similar discounts. Sharjah, Dubai and others are offering 50 per cent off. Ras Al Khaimah is offering 55 per cent off.

Fines that will be discounted are for offences that took place between August 1 2016 and today, December 1 2017. The discount is valid on ALL fines.

Abu Dhabi Police may well also be feeling extra generous as the discounts coincide with their 60th anniversary.
