La Mer's first licensed restaurant is opening this weekend
Here’s a first look inside…
Masti, the Indian-inspired restaurant and lounge at La Mer, is set to open this Saturday, December 23. It will be the first of several licensed spots at the new Jumeirah 1 development.
The two-storey venue will be an unlicensed restaurant and terrace on the ground floor, which will be open all day, with a licensed lounge with outdoor seating upstairs, opening from 5pm. That sounds like the perfect time for sundowners…
Masti, which translates to ‘fun and mischief’, will serve up Indian sharing dishes with global influences. The menu, created by award-winning chef Hari Nayak, includes the likes of the Black Bass Ceviche, a Masti take on a Peruvian classic, and Bhatti Merguez, a fusion of African and Indian flavours.
It’s got a bold and vibrant interior, with funky wallpapers, printed cushions and bright leather seating that brings a kaleidoscope of colour to the beachfront space.
While the downstairs restaurant and terrace will be for dining only, the upstairs bar will serve up a variety of inventive cocktails against the backdrop of panoramic views of the Arabian Gulf.
There’s both low lounge seating and high tables, plus a private gin room for those wanting a more intimate dining experience. Revelers can enjoy their drinks upstairs alongside a bar bites menu, or opt for the a la carte dishes, while listening to the sounds of Masti’s resident DJ.
