The hotel will be closed from mid-May to early October…

It’s just celebrated two decades of serving its visitors, but Dubai’s iconic Jumeirah Beach Hotel is set to close for five months from May to undergo a significant makeover.

The hotel will relaunch in early October, just in time for its 21st birthday celebrations in December.

During the makeover, 425 guest bedrooms, the grand lobby, shops, the beach and outdoor areas and all the restaurants will get a fresh new look.

So fans of those spots, and others in the hotel including gastropub Dhow & Anchor and the seafront Beach Lounge, best get yourselves down there before May.

These upgrades will follow extensive work already completed in 2017 to improve the kids club, beach and beachfront restaurants and 172 rooms.

But certain parts of the hotel will also remain open. The resort’s waterpark Wild Wadi will operate as normal, plus it will be free of charge for guests at any of Jumeirah’s other hotels. Talise gym and cafe and certain parts of the beach will also remain open, and it’s likely that the renovation won’t affect beach club Cove Beach nor tiki hotspot Mahiki.

Guests who have already booked to stay at the hotel across the renovation dates will be offered alternative accommodation in one of Jumeirah’s other premier properties.

Discussing the renovation, general manager Sven Wiedenhaupt said: “We are very excited that Jumeirah Beach Hotel is to undergo such a significant transformation. The famed wave-shape exterior of the hotel will remain untouched but the experience inside will be revamped, ensuring we are geared up to create another twenty years of memories.”
