App of the week: Dubai Now
The ultimate app for Dubai residents lets you take care of all your bills (and more) in one place
App of the Week is a new regular series spotlighting the best Dubai-based smartphone apps.
One of the most convenient things about having a smartphone is not needing schlep down to a service centre on your lunch break to pay your bills – nearly everything these days can be done via an app. The only downside, of course, is that you need to install half a dozen different apps in order to get the job done.
Well, no more. The Dubai Now app is the ultimate digital tool for the savvy Dubai resident looking to step up their efficiency game. It consolidates a whole host of services into one convenient place so that you don’t have to rummage through your phone to get stuff done.
On the bill front, Dubai Now lets you input your account details for DEWA, Empower, Etisalat and Du (amongst others) so that you can easily square up your all your bills at once. You’ll get a notification when a new bill comes in, and then it’ll be listed in the app alongside all the others. There’s even an option to turn on auto-payment so you can set and forget.
We also love that you can use the app to top up your Nol card, letting you skip the long morning queues for the ticket office at the metro station.
For motorists, there’s a shedload of functionality including being able to pay for parking, recharging Salik and paying parking fines. One of the coolest features has to be the ability to pay for petrol at one of Dubai’s many ENOC stations from within the app – using GPS the app knows what station you’re at and you simply need to input the pump number and you’re good to go.
And it’s not all just about paying bills, either. The app has tons of other useful features such as real-time flight info, ATM and pharmacy locations, a rent increase calculator, daily prayer times, Ejari info, and the list goes on…
All pertinent info is displayed in a handy dashboard so you can monitor upcoming bills or see when your car registration is up for renewal. No need to second guess whether you paid that parking ticket you picked up last month, it’s all there.
The level of available services is frankly staggering, so much so that we encourage you to download the app to check it out for yourself. It’s a testament to the Dubai Government’s ongoing mission to make Dubai one of the ‘smartest’ cities in the world, and a must-have for Dubai residents old and new.
Dubai Now is free and available now for iOS and Android smartphones.
