Dedicated student housing community coming to Dubai in 2020
The Myriad Dubai will feature seven blocks with 1,820 fully furnished single-occupancy rooms
Dubai’s university students currently don’t have a lot of living options. Not all universities offer student housing and it’s often limited and in high demand. That leaves them with two options: either spring for a pricey apartment close to campus, or (groan) continue to live with their parents which, while cheap, isn’t always the coolest option.
Thankfully, that is set to change with the announcement of a dedicated student housing community scheduled to open by 2020.
The 58,000 sq metre Myriad Dubai will be spread over seven blocks and feature 1,820 full furnished rooms. Located in Dubai International Academic City, it will be within walking distance of 30 major universities, perfectly situated for the approximately 26,000 students who study there.
Rooms will be single occupancy and segregated by gender. Each room will have an en-suite bathroom with utility and Wi-Fi bills included in the cost of rent.
According to a representative from the project’s developer, Strategic Housing Group, students will even be able to apply for jobs within the community, falling in line with regulations passed in 2016 that allow for university students to hold part-time jobs in the emirate.
And they’ll likely need to work, too, as rent won’t be cheap. Rent will start at Dhs16,000 per semester for a basic room, and will reach closer to Dhs30,000 for more advanced accommodations.
