Here's why you need to check out d3 this weekend

Tired of the same nights out?
Well, we’ve got plenty of reasons for you to trade it in for a night out at Dubai Design District this weekend.
The Downtown Dubai neighbourhood is hosting two popular local live acts on both Friday and Saturday, as part of their Sound Garden collaboration. On Friday, you’ll be able to catch Colin Jazz Voyage performing a three hour set at Chez Charles. Bringing his modern, funky mix of jazz sounds to the contemporary brasserie, it kicks off from 8pm.
Then on Saturday, blues master Jay Abo will perform an intimate set at the newly opened Mediterranean spot, Belong. Again, the three-hour gig starts at 8pm, so bag yourself a table in the lounge to ensure you get a front-row seat.
But it’s not just about the music, you’ll also find six licensed restaurants now open in d3 to dine at – so there’s plenty to tuck into whatever mood you’re in..
The more established restaurants include part-restaurant part-art gallery Molecule, foodie favourite The Lighthouse, cosy Italian L’arte and popular brasserie Chez Charles, but there’s also two just-opened spots to dine at.
First up, there’s Akiba Dori. Inspired by the backstreets of Akihabara in Japan’s Tokyo, it serves up street food in a foodhall-style space from seven different storefronts.
Then the latest opening is Belong. This retro Mediterranean restaurant serves up a menu of fusion Mediterranean dishes and live DJs in a vibrant restaurant and lounge space.
We’ll see you there…
