Irish hospitality and great food: it's time you checked out McGettigan's Al Ain

The McGettigan’s brand just keeps getting bigger and bigger – the popular Irish pub recently opened its eighth branch in the UAE (and it’s second in the emirate of Abu Dhabi) in the Garden City of Al Ain.
If you’re a regular at McGettigan’s in either Abu Dhabi or one of its Dubai branches, you’ll feel right at home the minute you walk inside this new one, which you’ll find in the Danat Al Ain resort. Much of the decor is the same – there’s the classic green lighting, rows of books on shelves and wooden furniture you’ll find in all the other branches, but this Danat spot has low ceilings, giving it an almost country pub feel. It has two al fresco areas (one of which has two huge screens and will be a good spot to watch the football World Cup this summer). There’s also a dining area with a bank of huge windows, with views of the hotel’s pools below. All in all, it’s a pleasant venue enhanced even more by friendly, smiling staff.
Just like other branches, the food and hospitality aren’t the only reasons to visit. There’s a happy hour every day from 5pm to 8pm, a ladies’ night, a weekly pub quiz, and Monday night is Irish Culture Night, with live music from Irish band Suckin’ Diesel. An after-brunch package is available, as well.
Which brings us nicely to pub food. They offer a menu with traditional dishes such as fish and chips, Irish stew, Wagyu beef and Guinness pie, oven-baked salmon fillet and a juicy steak sandwich.
So if you live in Al Ain or are visiting the Garden City, we suggest you take time to visit McGettigan’s – this new branch is of a good standard, with hearty portions and friendly staff.
