Marvel’s merc with a mouth teams up with The Waterfall pearl divers for the perfect marketing stunt

If you’ve visited Dubai Mall this week then you may have done a double take while walking past The Waterfall, noticing that one of the iconic structure’s pearl divers has undergone something of a costume change.

Rather than the diver’s regular silver shimmer, he has instead been decked out in the red and black costume of none other than Marvel superhero Deadpool.

This clever marketing stunt coincides with the release of Deadpool 2 to cinemas across the UAE, and fits perfectly in line with the film’s much-hyped publicity campaign that included the below cameo from footballer David Beckham.

The image of Deadpool swan-diving into the Dubai Mall waterfall has since gone viral on social media, with even Ryan Reynolds himself reposting it to his Instagram with the caption “This is incredible.”

You’re not wrong there, Ryan. We agree that as far as publicity stunts go, this one is pretty epic.

There’s no word on how long the pearl diver will remain dressed as everyone’s favourite merc with a mouth, so we suggest heading down quick if you want to nab a selfie.
