Here's why your phone says 'Zayed Humanitarian Day' this morning
Several eagle-eyed residents spotted the change and took to social media
When looking at your smartphone this morning you may have noticed that where the network provider’s name normally sits, the words ‘Zayed Humanitarian Day’ now appear.
That’s because today marks the annual Zayed Humanitarian Work Day, a day dedicated to the the good deeds and achievements of the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, the founder of the UAE. It also coincides with the anniversary of the founders passing in 2004.
The change in carrier name occured just past midnight on Monday, with both telcos UAE Etisalat and Du making the switch. Many eagle-eyed residents spotted the change and took to social media in support of the day by posting screenshots of their phone’s homescreens.
So it’s the #ZayedHumanitarianDay today…

The UAE’s founding father was well known for his charitable humanitarian work. According to Gulf News the value of his humanitarian and development aid reached Dh90.5 billion and benefited 117 countries.
Although the chance came in on iPhones, it didn’t look like the same had happened on Android phones.
Did you see it this morning?
