Terminal 2 at Dubai Airport now has 18 fully-operational smart gates
You can now get through passport control in mere seconds
Travelling through Dubai International Airport Terminal 2 is about to become an increasingly more pleasant experience thanks to the installation of 18 new smart gates.
Similar to those found in Terminals 1 and 3, the new gates allow passengers to pass through passport control in mere seconds, simply by scanning their Emirates ID, a valid biometric passport or a smartphone with the UAE Wallet app downloaded on it.
H.E Major General Mohammed Ahmed Al Marri, Director General of #GdrfaDubai launched the new smart gates at Dubai International (DXB) Terminal 2 accompanied by senior officers. A total of 18 new smart gates are now fully operational in Terminal 2.#people_happiness_is_our_aim pic.twitter.com/8TABPKhR0Z

10 gates have been fitted in the terminal arrival area, with the remaining eight located in the departure area. According to a report from Gulf News, a senior official at the General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs in Dubai (GDRFA) said that the whole process – which includes scanning a passengers documents and face – should only take a maximum of 10 seconds.
This is great news as Terminal 2, which is home to Fly Dubai and other low-cost airlines, is well known for having lengthy queues at passport control. Hopefully these new smart gates should make that a thing of the past.
