British musician Newton Faulkner headlines a bill supported by local talent…

Travellers through DXB this weekend will be in for a special treat as popular British folk musician Newton Faulkner will be headlining the airport’s first ever music festival, musicDXB.

Kicking off at 7pm on Thursday, June 28 and running until the early hours of Friday, June 29, the 10-hour concert will take place on a number of stages spread across the airport’s concourses B, C and D.

Best known for his 2007 hit, ‘Dream Catch Me’, Newton Faulkner will take the stage at 11pm in Concourse B to coincide with the peak travel hours of one of Dubai International’s busiest weekends of the year so far.

Over the remaining 10 hours, a cadre of Dubai-based musicians will also be performing to travellers at various times, including singer/songwriter Stephon LaMar (12.30am, Friday), bluesman Jay Abo (3am, Friday) and Aman Sheriff (7pm, Thursday) who recently supported the Stereophonics at the Dubai Media City Amphitheatre.

The concerts are, of course, free to attend, or at least in so much as you’ll need to have a valid plane ticket to get into the airport.

But fret not, Faulkner fans, Newton will be performing another free concert in Dubai at PizzaExpress Live in Business Bay on Friday, June 29.
