Dubai Culture has revealed that the annual Dubai Festival for Youth Theatre will be back for another go around in October.

Now in its 12th year, the 2018 edition of the cultural theatre festival will be held under the theme ‘Year of Zayed’ and will take place inside the theatre of the Culture and Science Symposium in Dubai.

Designed to highlight the creativity of theatre groups in the UAE, the annual event also provides a platform for the city’s budding actors, directors, authors, decorators, producers, makeup artists, sound engineers, visual displays and lighting, and fashion designers.

Starting next month, Dubai Culture will also be holding a series of theatre-related workshops in the lead up to the festival that member of the public can participate in.

The Dubai Folklore Theatre will run two workshops, the first entitled ‘Theatrical Theatre’ from August 1 to 30, and another called ‘Preparation of UAE literary novels and converting them to theatrical scripts’ from August 26 to September. A third workshop by Dubai Al Ahli Theatre called ‘Theatre Directing’ will take place between August 1 to 30.
