Good news: Dubai's oldest English language library has found a new home
It will be relocating to Gold and Diamond Park in October…
Back in April we reported that the Old Library located at the Dubai Community Theatre and Art Centre (DUCTAC) was on the hunt for a new home.
And while last week we learned the sad news that DUCTAC will be shuttering its doors permanently due to being unable to secure a new location after its current one at Mall of the Emirates had been marked for further development, it appears that the Dubai’s oldest English language library won’t be sharing the same fate.
According to The National, the Old Library has reached an agreement with property developer Emaar to shift its some 25,000 books to a new base in Gold and Diamond Park.
This is great news for the library’s 2,000 members and 0ver 40 volunteers who, up until recently, were still unsure whether it would remain open after the summer.
The article goes on to mention that the expected reopening date at the new premises will be in October and we can’t wait to head down and check it out.
