Good news for commuters in the capital: the number of air-conditioned bus shelters is set to double by the end of the year.
The Abu Dhabi Department of Transport revealed that a total of 100 new bus stops are currently being built, while the existing 130 shelters in the city will be refurbished to ensure they match the same high standards.
Gulf News reports that ultimately the DoT will roll out a total of 600 air-conditioned bus shelters in the emirate, with 400 of them in Abu Dhabi City and the Al Dhafra region and 200 in Al Ain.

They won’t be one-size-fits-all, either. Each shelter will be sized as per the number of commuters who use that particular stop and will be erected in the areas where they are most-needed.
The new shelters will vary between six and 12 metres long and will be able to accommodate up to 30 people comfortably on the larger end.
