Is this newly opened Address steakhouse worth a visit?

There’s a new STK in town – the New York steakhouse brand has launched a second outlet in the recently reopened Address Downtown and this fresh serving of the internationally acclaimed venue wants to cater to all moods.

The steakhouse is split into a restaurant, bar and terrace. For a more casual affair, there’s a bistro space of wooden tables and black chairs, but if you’re looking for a more upscale offering, head to the elevated dining space complete with cream leather booths.

Don’t expect a quiet meal here, though – there’s a party atmosphere inside that will make you feel like you’re eating in a nightclub. Well-known dance floor anthems blare loudly and waiters are energetic, taking to the tables for a dance routine midway through the evening. We expect the place to pick up come winter, with a second bar set to open in the cooler months, where guests will get to enjoy Burj Khalifa views in the alfresco dining area.

The menu is divided into starters, salads, a raw bar, mains and a section dedicated to its namesake. But if steak isn’t your thing, other options include roasted salmon, steamed sea bass, and rack of lamb.

A starter of three soft shell crab sliders (Dhs69) with old bay remoulade sauce and pickled ginger were enjoyable and quickly polished off, followed with a portion of roasted octopus (Dhs75) with smoked paprika and confit tomato. Both dishes were presented nicely although the octopus could have benefited from being more tenderised.

For mains, the passionfruit miso black cod (Dhs179) was enjoyable although the flavour of the passionfruit could have been more intense. The highlight of the menu was the juicy and tender USDA prime ribeye 380g steak (Dhs279), served with pepper sauce (Dhs15).

For dessert, try the chocolate lava cake with caramel corn and vanilla ice cream (Dhs49). Generously sized, it delivered on both taste and presentation.

If you’re looking for an excuse to dress up and dance with dinner, STK Downtown hits the spot nicely.
