It’s not all shoes and handbags. Dubai Mall is home to some amazing restaurants and cafes.

And with the opening of the new Fashion Avenue extension earlier this year, there are now even more places for you to refuel after all that retail therapy. Think trendy Japanese restaurants, celebrity chef-led concepts, and Michelin-approved burgers.

Katsuya by Starck

This is the second serving of Katsuya By Starck – the design-led hotspot was formerly housed in the main part of The Dubai Mall. Now, the brainchild of sushi chef Katsuya Uechi and French interior designer Philippe Starck is back, this time in the Fashion Avenue extension. You’ll find it on the Second Floor, complete with an al fresco area with views of the Dubai Fountain.

Bebabel

You might already be familiar with Lebanese restaurant Babel, which is located at La Mer, and now its cool little sister has opened on the First Floor of the Fashion Avenue extension. This “casual chic” cafe version offers a Lebanese breakfast menu and all-day dining menu, and serves shisha out on the terrace.

Todd English Food Hall

American celebrity chef Todd English has opened his popular Food Hall concept on the Ground Floor of Fashion Avenue. Spread over 12,000 square feet, there’s no less than 12 open kitchens inside, serving food from eight different sub-restaurants. Expect all kinds of cuisines, from Asian to Afghan to all-American.

A childhood favourite among the Filipino community, Pancake House has opened a second branch at Dubai Mall, in the Fashion Avenue food court on the Second Floor. You can enjoy their famously fluffy pancakes, as well as other tasty Filipino favourites like beef tapa and classic pan chicken.

L’Artisan du Burger

Die-hard burger fans will have to check out this new spot on the First Floor, opposite the Ice Rink. The French brand is one of the first burger joints to have been featured in the Michelin Guide. Don’t expect your usual slapdash creations – these burgers are handcrafted using the finest meats and cheeses, while buns are freshly baked using a bespoke dough blend that is imported from Paris.

Travel-themed restaurant Somewhere is located on the First Floor of the Fashion Avenue extension. In keeping with the travel theme, there are some curious mash-ups on the menu which take diners on a culinary journey around the globe – think guacamole hummus and beef shawarma bao. We are personally obsessed with the kunafa croissant.

Cova

One of Italy’s oldest coffeehouses (it was founded in Milan in 1817) is now located on the Ground Floor of the Fashion Avenue extension. Expect elegant interiors, as well as a stunning outdoor terrace overlooking the Dubai Fountain. Menu wise, you’ll find delicious coffees and cakes, including the famous panettone.

Gia Ristorante

Next to Cova you’ll find Gia, an old-meets-new Italian fusion eatery. The restaurant features an all-day dining menu of quintessential Italian favourites, made with a focus on fresh ingredients imported direct from Italy.

L’eto

Located on the Second Floor of the Fashion Avenue extension, this cafe is sure to be a popular breakfast spot, as well as offering tasty cakes, pastries, breads, proper antipodean coffee, salads and other light meals.

Logma

Emirati concept Logma can be found at Fashion Avenue on the Third Floor, offering top floor views of the Dubai Fountain. Meaning ‘bites’ in Arabic, the eatery serves up a range of traditional dishes like machboos and khamir.

Huqqa/The Market

Next door to Logma is this popular concept from Turkey. The menu has something for all tastes, with a mix of Anatolian and western dishes, desserts, and a huge selection of creative mocktails. Huqqa also has a spacious outdoor terrace with great views of Downtown Dubai.

Starbucks Reserve

A Starbucks Reserve is now open on the First Floor of the Fashion Avenue extension. Reserve is the famed chain’s premium brand, which offers a far more sophisticated coffee drinking experience.

New Shanghai

Located on the Lower Ground floor of the Mall, New Shanghai transports guests to the bustling streets of 1930s Shanghai with soups, dumplings, hotpots, pan-fried buns and more. The restaurant even has a ‘Dumpling Theatre’ where you can watch your dim sum being made

A UK institution, Pret A Manger is the perfect place to pick up a quick lunch, with fresh coffees, ready-to-go sandwiches, croissants and more. The new Dubai outlet is located on the Ground Floor, with outdoor waterfront seating.
