Revealed: The top Google searches in the UAE in 2018
From popular topics to the most searched public figures, did you find yourself googling any of these this year?
Google has just released its annual list of the top searched trends around the world. As well as collecting data from across the globe, the search giant also divides its lists by country, revealing the UAE’s top search trends for 2018.
Coming out on top was, unsurprisingly ‘World Cup’, which took over the globe back in June for four weeks of football frenzy.
Staying with the sporting theme, IPL (Indian Premier League), was the second most searched topic in the UAE in 2018.
The late Bollywood actress Sridevi Kapoor also made the most popular searches, as well as newlywed Priyanka Chopra, who featured fourth in the list.
Other notable searches include ‘Passport Index’ (the UAE ranked number one in the World Passport Index for the first time ever this year), ‘Fortnite’ and ‘Bitcoin’.
In terms of public figures, Megan Markle was the UAE’s most google searched star, who wed British royal Prince Harry back in May. Alongside her popular searches include Nick Jonas, who recently married Priyanka Chopra taking the number two spot, YouTuber Logan Paul at number three, and the late Freddie Mercury, who was the fifth most searched for star according to Google.
