From a workshop on henna to a self-healing full moon session, there’s something to do every day over the weekend here in the capital.

Here are 6 things to do in Abu Dhabi this weekend.   

Thursday, May 9

1. See Islamic artefacts at these malls

During Ramadan, Yas Mall, The Mall at World Trade Center Abu Dhabi and Al Jimi Mall will be home to Islamic artefacts. The three malls have partnered with The Islamic Museum during the Holy Month to put on display over 100 priceless inspiring pieces, and it’s available free of cost for the public to check out. Some of the artefacts you can expect to see are a special oil painting of the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Nahyan; the chair on which Sheikh Zayed used to sit; the first photo of the union with the leaders of the UAE; rare historical newspapers clippings; Quran copies that date back thousands of years and more. The artefacts will be at the malls all through Ramadan until June 4.

2. Henna 101: Learn the art of Henna

Get an introductory course on henna by chiropractor, designer and henna artist, Dr. Azra Khamissa this weekend at Warehouse 421. Azra will teach about the history and benefits of henna, as well as a couple of practical henna art techniques. The course is available for those 16 years and older and the class costs Dhs80.

3. Try iftar at Market Kitchen

A What’s On favourite, head to the Market Kitchen for iftar this week and enjoy a sharing menu featuring Middle Eastern specialities with a modern twist served directly to your table.

4. Last chance: Ramadan Arcade

If you haven’t already, go check out the Ramadan Arcade at Manarat Al Saadiyat. Now in its last weekend, you can enjoy a series of activities spread out across five main zones. There’s a gaming area that features modern, retro and traditional games, and some of the classics such as Pac-Man, Street Fighter and Space Invaders. At the garden, you will find a variety of food trucks for culinary treats and you can even get some shopping in at the pop-up vendor stalls. There are workshops and talks you can attend and poetry performances, too.

5. Create your own doll

For just Dhs25,  join artist Aisha Al Blooshi in a crafty workshop where you will learn to create your own doll this Saturday. The artist will help inspire you to create your doll based on childhood memories, using basic everyday objects. The workshop will be held at Art Studio at Manarat Al Saadiyat and will begin at 9.30pm

6. Attend a self-healing workshop

This ladies-only workshop is a self-healing evening that will using the healing power of the full moon during the Holy Month of Ramadan. Attendees will reconnect with their source energy and will learn to let go of what is not serving them anymore. The session will consist of yoga, talks, meditation, breathing and cleansing exercises.
