Ramadan sharing fridges get amazing makeovers thanks to local artists
The Ramadan Fridges are now serious pieces of art…
In the spirit of the Holy Month of Ramadan, sharing fridges have once again sprung up around the city, in a yearly initiative to give back to the community and provide free food and drink to families and workers in need across Dubai.
Last year saw a number of local artists spruce up the fridges using aerosols, paints and brushes in a series of amazing artwork. This year they’re back – and more inventive than ever, with the number of talented artists up to 40 putting their talents to the fridges.

The idea came to life in 2018 when two local artists decided to brighten up the Ramadan Sharing Fridge in their local community. From here, @fridgeartindxb was born.
More than 46 fridges have been decorated already, but with 200 in total dotted around the city, the artists are showing no sings of slowing down.
The move is designed to bring the joy of art to workers and people visiting the fridges, to brighten their moods and give them access to art that they might not see or encounter on a daily basis. Fridge Art Initiative organiser Rosan Reodica Juan said of the designs last year: “Art should be shared, and not limited to galleries and museums.”
