The first SeaWorld outside of the United States is set to open its doors in Abu Dhabi. Currently under construction on Yas Island, SeaWorld Abu Dhabi will make history as the first SeaWorld to be developed without orcas when it opens in 2022.

Described as a “first-of-its-kind marine life themed park”, SeaWorld Abu Dhabi will house the UAE’s first dedicated marine life R4 centre, which stands for research, rescue, rehabilitation and return. The centre will be dedicated to the care and conservation of local marine life.

According to the official website, SeaWorld Abu Dhabi “will integrate up-close animal experiences, mega attractions, and a world class aquarium.” So it sounds like there’ll be plenty to see and do at the park when it opens in 2022.

First announced in 2016, SeaWorld Abu Dhabi is a partnership between government-backed developer Miral and SeaWorld Entertainment. And the park must be making good progress, as it’s advertising for a Marketing Director on LinkedIn.

SeaWorld Abu Dhabi will join leading attractions on Yas Island which include Ferrari World Abu Dhabi, Yas Waterpark and Warner Bros. World Abu Dhabi. Next year, Yas Island will also welcome the arrival of another new attraction, CLYMB, which will be home to the world’s largest indoor climbing wall.

CLYMB and SeaWorld are just two of an array of exciting new attractions coming soon to the capital.

Snow Abu Dhabi is a huge new snow play park that will be four times the size of Ski Dubai and is set open on Reem Island, Abu Dhabi next year.

While earlier this year, officials confirmed that Sadiyaat Island project Guggenheim Abu Dhabi and Zayed National Museum are still very much active.

And sticking on the marine life theme, Abu Dhabi is set to open the Middle East’s largest aquarium, The National Aquarium, in Al Qana, at the start of 2020. The National Aquarium Abu Dhabi will be a 7,000 square metre space with ten zones, housing 33,000 marine animals.
