Yes, it actually rained in Dubai over the weekend
The penultimate weekend of August saw heavy rain, strong winds and even hail lash the city…
We can usually be pretty confident about the weather in Dubai through August: hot, dry and humid.
But over the weekend, residents across Dubai saw their pool days interrupted as heavy rain and strong winds lashed the city on the afternoon of Friday August 23.
The unexpected storm began just before 4pm as the skies darkened and visibility was severely reduced, and some areas of the city even faced hailstones as the weather intensified.
The National Centre of Meteorology and Seismology (NCMS) took to Twitter to share videos of the weather.

And they weren’t the only ones. H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Crown Prince of Dubai also took to Instagram to share snaps of the unusual August weather from his car.
At the first ever What’s On Lock In, our Head of Content, Laura, embraced the unusual weather.
Residents also took to social media to share their snaps from their homes and cars as Friday’s dramatic weather worsened. If you missed the storm, here’s a snapshot of what it looked like:
