Dhs1.3 billion Expo 2020 roads project opens in Dubai
Phase 3 and Phase 4 of the roads leading to the Expo 2020 site are now open…
Phase 3 and Phase 4 of Dubai’s Expo 2020 roads project are now open, thanks to Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA).
In total, the two phases which include the construction of bridges and roads extending 5km and 17km respectively, have come at a cost of Dhs1.3 billion.
Works completed included constructing intersections of Sheikh Zayed bin Hamdan Al Nahyan Street with both Expo and Al Yalayes Streets, building two flyovers on Sheikh Zayed bin Hamdan Al Nahyan Street at Dubai Investment Park, and widening Sheikh Zayed bin Hamdan Al Nahyan Street from two to five lanes in each direction.

Phase 1 and 2 of the Expo 2020 roads project saw the construction of a total of 43km of new road, while work continues on the final two phases, Phase 5 and Phase 6.
Under these two phases, bridges to be constructed will span 4 km in length, and roads will extend 11 km in total.
The overall aim of the new Expo 2020 roads is to ensure smooth traffic flow for some 25 million visitors forecast to visit the Expo 2020 site, and visitors to future projects in the area.
