Sharjah motorists can now get a 50 per cent discount on traffic fines
You can also get your traffic points cancelled too…
Back in August, it was announced that Dubai drivers could be be eligible for 50 per cent off on traffic fines, and now, Sharjah, our neighbouring city, have also announced a similar initiative.
The initiative will benefit those who have incurred traffic fines before October 22, 2019 while driving in Sharjah. They will be able to receive a 50 per cent discount upon payment.
The news was verified on the official Sharjah Police Instagram account by Major General Saif Al-Zari Al Shamsi, Commander-in-Chief of Sharjah Police, who extended his appreciation towards the Sharjah Executive Council (SEC) in the decision to reduce accumulated fines by motorists by 50 per cent.
The initiative also includes the cancellation of incurred traffic points too, and the discount is applicable to fines and traffic points that have been incurred before October 22, 2019.
And here’s more good news: You have time until January 31, 2020 to benefit from this initiative.
Al Shamsi urged vehicles owners to benefit from this decision, and expedite paying their fines during the period.
Here’s the best way to make payment:
While there are several options (such as heading to the police station) to go pay off your fine(s) and benefit from the 50 per cent discount, we’ve figured out the best way for you to do so.
Simple download the MOI UAE (Ministry of Interior) app available on both Android and iOS.
Create your log in (Emirates ID is mandatory) and enter in your required details and head to the payment sections.
The 50 per cent discount will be automatically added on to your final total, with only a Dhs10 fee for late payment.
Once payment has been made, you will receive a confirmation message stated that payment has been captured successfully.
Sharjah Police will facilitate fine settlements in all of its stations and through supplementary methods.
