The WB Abu Dhabi’s sultry little steakhouse, The Director’s Cut is now offering a great way to relish a trio of their top-drawer meats. Yes for Dhs450, you get three premium cuts of steak, a luxurious side, and sauce. It’s an extra Dhs120 for six bottles of Japanese beer, or another Dhs100 for three glasses of wine.

Home is where the art is
Art on the walls, art on the plates, art in their heart. Abu Dhabi’s Art House Cafe is all about providing a passionate experience, and the dining element is at the core of that. They’ve got a massive menu but their famous shakshoka is probably our pick of the brunch. Every inch feels, and smells like a truly inspirational, creative space, surrounded by botanical greens and abstract scenes. And because its a place that celebrates the creative spark, you can go full Picasso on a plate for Dhs20, there’s the option to paint masks (Dhs30) or a miniature brick painting (Dhs10).
Al Huwelat St, Bateen Area, Opp Al Bateen Villa No 15, 10am to midnight. Tel: (02) 666 0175. @arthousecafead

Back to the lab again
Last week has the Department of Culture and Tourism — Abu Dhabi announced that a new megaproject will be joining the Saadiyat Cultural District’s collection of museums, galleries and places of worship — teamLab Phenomena Abu Dhabi. And despite the fact it’s not due for completion until 2024, there is a way to get an electric preview of its truly astonishing installations. It’s being held at Mamsha Al Saadiyat from June 24 to July 17, and you’ll find it next to the new Society Cafe.
Virtually inside
They say you can’t run away from your problems, but you can put on a headset and blast them into oblivion. Groundbreaking Virtual Reality (VR) experience, Zero Latency at The Galleria Al Maryah Island represents a true levelling up in gaming tech. The free-roam multiplayer experience allows teams of up to eight mates to fight off waves of brain-nibbling zombies. Gone are the cumbersome cables and wires of the old school VR world, now you can explore the open gamespace with absolute freedom. If you’re not down for duelling the undead, you can also take on a special virtual version of Ubisoft tropical Island caper, Far Cry 3. And for more cerebral fun, there’s the engaging puzzle conundrums of Engineerium.
The Galleria Al Maryah Island, Abu Dhabi. Opens July 27. Tel:(0)2 493 7400, from Dhs150. @zerolatencyvrae

Five on it
American burger chain Five Guys has more than 250,000 burger combinations thanks to the gloriously customisable menu. Why? Because we humans are a famously picky bunch. For every person whose eyes roll back in bliss when they eat mushrooms, there’s another that will be crying about ‘the texture’. One thing that receives almost universal burger fan acceptance though, is that Five Guys make pretty incredible sandwiches. Good news for Abu Dhabi then, that the latest chapter of the brands UAE story opens in The Galleria Al Maryah Island on Wednesday June 29, giving you the opportunity to get buns hun, midway through the shopping run. Mushrooms optional.
The Galleria Al Maryah Island, daily 10am to midnight. @fiveguysuae
