“24-carat comedy” from South African funny man Trevor Noah at DUCTAC
What’s On has details of award-winning comedian Trevor Noah performing in Dubai, and how you can get tickets for his show at DUCTAC, Mall of the Emirates.
His previous credits include The Jay Leno Show, Late Show with David Letterman, an award-winning Edinburgh Festival show endorsed by Eddie Izzard, and sell-out performances in South Africa, UK, New York, Montreal, Germany, Holland, Zambia, Botswana, Namibia and Australia.
Born to a white Swiss father and Black South African mother, Trevor finds humour in his mixed-race heritage, apartheid and his childhood in a Soweto township.
His path to stand-up comedy has included stints as an actor, radio DJ and TV host. At the age of 18, he played a small role on South African soap opera, Isidingo, and went on to host his own radio show Noah’s Ark on Gauteng’s youth radio station, YFM.
As a TV host, he has presented everything from educational programmes to dating shows, gossip shows and awards ceremonies.
Focusing on standup comedy five years ago, Trevor has performed alongside comedy’s finest, including Gabriel Iglesias and Russell Peters on the latter’s South African tour.
The Guardian newspaper has described Trevor’s act as “24-carat comedy”, while The Daily Telegraph has praised his “boyish good-looks, laid-back assurance and softly spoken thoughtfulness”.
His childhood memories are bittersweet. Under apartheid, Trevor had to walk on the opposite side of the road to his dad, and he jokes that racism is not what it once was: “They don’t make it like that anymore – no dogs, no tear-gas.”
Among Trevor’s accolades is a 2014 nomination for MTV Africa Music Awards Personality of the Year.
