World-famous daredevil Bello Nock is in Dubai currently looking for a location to perform his next death-defying act.
The Guinness World Record holder (the highest ever wire walk) has performed stunts at the likes of Madison Square Garden and The Statue of Liberty, and wants something spectacular for his next feat later this year.
While the likes of Burj Al Arab and Burj Khalifa are being considered by the Time Magazine Entertainer of the Year, he also wants help in selecting somewhere special.
“There are so many amazing, iconic structures here in Dubai, it will be difficult to choose where to perform my next stunt,” Bello, who is a seventh-generation circus performer, said. “I’m hoping locals with a knowledge of their home city will be able to help. I am here to promote my latest most daring stunt yet, ‘The Ultimate’ and Dubai seems very in keeping with it – everything here is the biggest, the best – the ultimate.”
Dubai represents one part of a world tour that will culminate in a performance in Las Vegas, during which Bello will perform 15 stunts in 15 minutes or less.
Bello’s plans to come to Dubai is the latest boost for fans such shows, with David Blaine and The Illusionists coming to the UAE before the end of the year.
Blaine, who famously encased himself in a block of ice for 63 hours, and lived in a Plexigas box suspended above London for 44 days – will perform for three nights at Emirates Palace as part of Abu Dhabi’s summer season programme.
Meanwhile, in September six highly-skilled performers, each with their own specific area of expertise, will have audiences scratching their heads and gasping, “How did they do that?” The stage troupe brought their show to the Dubai World Trade Centre last August in a sold out two-week spell. Acts such as The Anti-Conjuror, The Inventor, The Trickster and The Escapologist performed feats of Russian roulette, levitation, mind-reading, disappearances and escapes – with plenty of pyrotechnics.
This time, six new acts are on board for the September run: The Warrior, The Deceptionist, The Unusualist, The Futurist, The Manipulator, and The Master Magician in a show titled The Illusionists 2.0.
