Meet and chat, read a book, eat some cake - welcome to A4 Space
What’s On profiles Al Quoz: A4 Space, the new gallery at Al Serkal Avenue, Dubai. Find out opening times, gallery details and how to get to Alserkal Avenue.
The doors have opened on a new arts centre in Al Quoz: A4 Space. The first collective venue of its kind in the UAE, A4 Space invites you to slump in the stay-and-read library, develop creative projects, watch a film or just shoot the breeze over coffee. Here’s what’s going on.
Leave Your Note library
Already filling with all manner of books, the A4 library relies on the books you donate. The Leave Your Note campaign asks you to pass on a book with your name, the date, and a personal note written inside explaining why the book is important to you (right). Any book – text or graphic – in any language is welcome, and the subject is up to you, be it a weighty tome or a children’s book. The mezzanine library is a fresh, casual place with beanbags to loaf in, or desks if you want to work on your laptop with free Wi-Fi.
The Appetite Café
A trip to the galleries of Alserkal Avenue is no longer a dry, hungry affair – the café at A4 Space serves a range of tasty sandwiches, pastries, tea and coffee. A young, family run business, Appetite was founded by keen foodies: husband and wife team Manar and Suzi, and their partner, Nabil.
Screening room
Sink into a beanbag and watch a film you won’t see in a multiplex. A4 Space has already shown films from Dubai International Film Festival, and plans are afoot for regular documentary screenings.
Art shop
Browse the STORiEs concept store for handmade products by artists and designers. Walk away with a unique print, sculpture, garment or accessory.
Project space
Natural light floods into the spacious project space, the ideal setting for pop-up art exhibitions and fashion shows.
