Iconic British designer Lulu Guinness has opened her first first in the Middle East, at Souk Madinat.

The boutique outlet is spread over 280 square feet and will house the AW14 collection which has been launched as part of the brand’s 25th anniversary in October.

Described as a ‘distinctively British style’, the shop will stock the signature lip-shaped handbags, as well as other accessories and renowned Doll Face range.

Speaking ahead of the opening, Lulu said: “I am so excited to be launching my new store in Dubai and hope that women in the Middle East love my collections just as much as I do. I like to think my bags combine glamour, a good sense of humour and practicality, three traits which I think will resonate with the Middle Eastern market. I believe this new store is a truly unique space that will provide a great shopping experience for Lulu Guinness fans, both old and new.”

Founded in 1989 from the basement of her London home, the designer has gone on to earn an OBE for services to fashion, as well as enjoying retail success across the UK, USA, Japan and Thailand.

According to company’s official website. Lulu ‘has never had any formal design training apart from a year’s foundation course at art school and her success is proof that ambition, drive and a deeply ingrained passion for your product are all you need to succeed in the cut throat business of fashion’.

It is said that she ‘still lives by the motto of her hero, the Surrealist artisan and fashion designer Elsa Schiaparelli, ‘Dare to Be Different’ and the women who wear Lulu Guinness do just that.’
