A new amateur series has been launched that will give budding golfers the chance to enjoy some of the UAE’s best courses at heavily discounted rates.
The Daman Golf Series invites keen amateurs to play for a place in prestigious Golf Digest Classic, which will be held at the home of the Dubai Desert Classic.
Dubbed ‘the most exclusive amateur golf event in the region’, the competition will hold two qualifying events – one in Dubai, one in Abu Dhabi – around the end of September and start of October, with invitations extended to the cream of the crop for the Golf Digest Classic on October 15.
The finale will be held on the Majlis course at Emirates Golf Club, while qualifying is staged at The Els Club (Sept 27) and Saadiyat Beach Golf Club (October 11).
Entries to both qualifying tournaments are considerably cheaper than it would do on a normal Saturday, with Dubai’s event costing just Dhs385 for 18 holes, use of practice facilities for the day, shared golf cart, tournament shirt and a sleeve of Callaway balls. The same is available in the capital for Dhs450.
